It is a pure Oolong but its fermentation is close to green tea. Unlike the other oolongs, its extract is more yellowish and its taste is lighter and reminiscent of the aroma of the orchid.
Ti Kuan Yin (Guanyin) is the name of the Buddhist deity of Mercy. Iron statues of her can be found in many Buddhist Temples. There is an explanation why the tea got this name: they say that the leaves of this tea after processing become dark and heavy like iron. But at the same time, its quality is as "pure" and beautiful as divinity.
