For the quality of the leaves and extract of Assam and Darjeeling teas, an international nomenclature has been established with the following initials: S, F, T, G, F, O, P, which mean:
The S, initial of the word supreme (excellent) identifies the color and the extract.
The initials F, T, G, stand for F, fancy (very nice, fantastic) T, tippy (from tops) G, golden and identify the quality of the leaves collected. That is, the top, the card that has not yet opened and is covered by a golden or silver fluff.
F, flowery (fragrant) identifies the characteristically strong aroma it has.
The initials O, orange (orange) and P, pekoe (leaf) identify the second and third leaves which are also very tender and have an amber color.
