“Asom” means “unparalleled,” and for many, that is the perfect word to describe the tea of Assam.
The ancient name of Assam was Pragjyotispura, meaning “the city of eastern light.”
The region is characterized by heavy rainfall between March and September and high humidity during the summer months — an ideal combination for tea cultivation.

This tea belongs to the F.T.G.F.O.P. grade. It is an authentic Assam and displays the typical characteristics of teas from this famous region. The Mangalam Estate, located in Assam, northeastern India, is renowned for its large annual production of black tea.

The initials F, T, G stand for Fancy (exceptional), Tippy (from the buds), and Golden, referring to the quality of the harvested leaves — the unopened buds covered with a golden or silvery down.

The F stands for Flowery, describing the distinctively strong and aromatic character of the tea.

Finally, O (Orange) and P (Pekoe) indicate the second and third leaves, which are also very tender and have a warm amber color.

Its flavor is full-bodied, malty, with a light and well-balanced tangy aftertaste.
